Club pathway
Advanced swimming coaching for confident swimmers across Bolton and Greater Manchester who want to improve competitive technique, efficiency and performance. Many of our instructors have competed at county and national level.
Advanced sessions suit swimmers working through Swim England Stages 8–10, teenagers refining race skills, and swimmers preparing for club swimming. Sessions can be arranged as private tuition or within suitable group settings depending on ability and venue availability.
We follow the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework (Stages 1–10). Children progress through structured stages that build water confidence, technique and safety, earning stage badges and distance awards as they improve.
Children are grouped by ability, not age, so every swimmer learns at the right pace in a class where they feel confident.

When our teacher feels a swimmer is ready, the club coach assesses them for the next step into Bolton Swimming Club. This pathway gives families a clear, supported route from learn-to-swim lessons into competitive swimming without jumping in unprepared.
The link group is aimed at children who have completed the full learn-to-swim programme and want to explore club swimming in the Bolton area.
Some swimmers benefit from private advanced tuition to work on specific strokes, starts or turns. Others progress within group settings once they reach the right standard. We will advise based on your swimmer's goals and current ability.
Group lesson fees apply where advanced swimmers join suitable classes. Advanced groups (Stages 8–10) are £54 for a one-hour lesson. Private 1-to-1 sessions start from £47. See lesson fees or enquire for advanced coaching availability.

Advanced and link-group sessions run at our Bolton and Greater Manchester pool venues, including St Catherine's Academy. Families from Horwich and Westhoughton regularly join these sessions. View our venues or enquire for current advanced class availability.
Typically when they are confident across main strokes, have completed or are near completing Stage 7, and show readiness for more structured training. Your child's instructor will advise when advanced or link-group sessions are appropriate.
The club coach observes swimmers who have completed our learn-to-swim programme and link-group preparation. They assess readiness for Bolton Swimming Club training. There is no pressure to join; the assessment confirms whether club swimming is the right next step.
Yes. Adults who want stroke refinement or fitness-focused coaching can book private lessons or discuss options via adult swimming lessons.
